Yeah, I should tell you about the loud whining noise in MY car. It happens when I'm going sorta fast around curves, & it sounds like it's coming from the passenger seat area.

Oh yeah, one other thing... It only seems to happen when my wife's in the car...
JIm JIM JIM....... i wonder what the wife would say if she heard you talk like that ///

It is a 1996 Honda Accord LX Coupe with 170,000 miles on it and it has the 2.2 L non VTEC. The sound only comes on I noticed when the Air Conditioning is on. It only lasts like 5 seconds. Thanks GUYS.

Try some belt dressing on the AC belt. That's not a good permanent solution, but if it works, then you know it's the belt. If so, buy new belts. Even if they look OK, the rubber gets hard & slippery with age & heat. It's tempting to tighten the belts, but if you overtighten them you're gonna be hurting the bearings in your compressor, alternator, etc...

Another possibility is the AC compressor clutch squeaks when it first engages. I don't know whether that clutch can be replaced without replacing the whole compressor. So try not to spray any dressing on the clutch so you can separate whether the noise comes from the belt vs. the clutch.

I guess where it messes me up is the fact that the sound lasts like 5 seconds and goes away. The car belonged to my dad and he drove it and performed all maintinence on it as needed. I also notice the transmission has a delay when I first put it in gear. It is like a 2 second delay then it shifts into gear(it is an Auto.) Another things I notice is that my idle is horrible. It idles at around 300 - 400 RPM and goes lower once the air is turned on. Any ideas? Thanks.
