can anybody help me with the details of major tune up. I need to know the detailed parts that i have to buy for a major major tune up. I am getting it from autozone. Please enumerate all. Thanks in advance. i have a 1991 honda accord lx sedan.

oil filter
oil 3.7 quarts
fuel filter
air filter
pcv valve
ditributor cap and rotor
plug wires
plugs (always ngk) if you get bosch youll be sorry.
new accessory belts
new hoses
timing belt (theres 2 of them)
coolant
fill your battery
slush box? you have to go to honda and get their special atf if you get a dextron mercon fluid youll be sorry.
maybe need some power steering fluid? honda uses a special PS fluid also if you use anything else but that in there, then your going to need to pick up a rack and a pump cause youll need it.

thats what you need for a MAJOr tune up. you can cut some of that back if the parts are still good. you will probably need a valve adjustment, which i would recommend taking the car down to a shop for, its only a hundred bucks. happy wrenching

Doesnt a major tune up include cleaning out the throttle body plate?
I remember some friend of mine saying that when he does a tune up on his car, he cleans out some throttle body plate..

 

Only if its dirty.

 

yea does he have a FORD? yea the EGR channels need to be cleaned all the time. on your honda you should never have a throttle body problem.
