9.0:1 pistons
F22a, F22B1 86mm 9.0:1 compression Turbo - $459.99 : Bisimoto Engineering, Where Efficiency Meets Technological Perfection

9.1:1 piston h-beam combo
F22A/F22B H beam rod and 9.1:1 piston combo! - $759.99 : Bisimoto Engineering, Where Efficiency Meets Technological Perfection

the 9.0:1 show they are overbored 1mm over stock but the 9.1:1 does not.

if they are overbored do i have to replace the sleeves? or can they handle being bored out 1mm?

you can still use your f22b1/2 block,. All f22 blocks are the same. Just stamped with f22b1/2 or f22a1/4/6.

IF it was me I would stay with the 85mm to keep more meat on the cyl walls. But if bisi says you can go to 86mm then I would take his word. He knows more about our engines than ANYONE on this forum combined.
Yes you can run 86mm without re-sleeving.

Since this has moved from off topic thread to a engine internal thread so I'm gonna go ahead and move it so others can view this info when searching.

what about those piston combos?

and about the head, the h23 IM is only compatible with the f22aX head right?

with all this, i can get a reliable 300-400hp to the wheels? with a good tune. i can actually take my car into my school and use the dyno tuner on campus for free. score!

once i go through the hot rod course for turbo nitrous installation and tuning.

i get to install a turbo on a new mustang and also install NO2 and put it on the dyno and tune it. its a conservative tune so we dont blow the engine, but still i will know how and be able to use the dyno for myself when we have open shop.

if you can use the dyno that is awesome. But I would find a GOOD tuner to tune your engine. Someone who knows hondas. I would not have a teacher or a student tune your car. You will also need a p28 ecu chipped with crome or some type of tuning software. So you need to find a tuner that has the programs on his/hers computer to get your tune done. You can't just put your car on a dyno and run it and expect it to get tuned. You have to have the compatible software on your ecu as well as the computer that is tuning your ecu.

yes the h23 manifolds will only fit the f22a engines. Sorry I left that part out.

I'm still leaning towards the h22 swap with sleeved and forged pistons and rods.

I can find a junk h22 super cheap (700-800) and rebuild it at my shop (bearings, surface grinding, sleeved) for free.

Then rebuild the head, upgraded valvetrain, 3 angle valve job. Have to have it sent to a shop for port and polish. Don't have the expertise for it at my shop

I'm looking at 800 for engine, 1400 for bottom end, iffy on head work for now. Not gonna be running any crazy boost that needs it.

First things first. 5spd swap...

Okay I've been doing more f22 research. I have not really seen much performance comparison between the f22a1 head with h23 intake manifold vs f22b1 with f23 intake manifold.

Seen people make over 400hp on stock f22b1 engine

Anyone have any info?

the f22b1 will make more tq. than hp.
I personally just don't like the head design. The f22a has the better valve angle so it flows much much better. Also I don't like sohc vtec either. if it's going to be vtec it's DOHC in my book. But that’s just me....400hp on stock engine? Then I don’t see why the f22a can't do the same since they are the same engine just the f22b1 has a worse flow rate than the f22a. As for reliability on 400hp on a stock engine would not be great. The f22 pistons don't have the strongest ring lands and tend to blow out when getting into higher hp.
Go take a peek at cb7tuner.com tons of great info on the f22 engines.

"manifold, downpipe, dumptube and intercooler piping you're looking at around $1400-$1500"

Is that a good deal?

P.s. Can a mod change my title to f22 build instead of h22 :-p

what intercooler are you looking at? That does seem a little high. But if it's all quality parts it might just be worth it. Also I recommend welding your intake pipes not using couplers. The couplers will give you a crazy headache with boost creep/loss. Also I recommend you wrap you intake pipes and spend the money on a rams horn turbo manifold. I'm not a big OBX fan but I have heard good things about the obx rams horn turbo manifold. Just make sure it's supported or you will rip it right off the head and or turbo.
dump tube? or down pipe?
dump tube is right be4 the cat and basically lets you run open header when you want.
If your talking about the down pipe then don't buy one have one made. They never fit right even if they say they are made for your car. IF your going 2.5' you might get away with a pre made one. But of your going 3' like I did then you will need someone to make you one. It's a supper tight fit...I mean SUPPER TIGHT...(just like in high school days lol)
