Default My New Intake Help!

Hi there again,

I posted in this thread because I feel like you get more help with engine and internal, and I'd like some help!

I just installed my new Bomz short ram and it's great... I don't feel really any power gain but that sound is beautiful! Only a few little things. as you can see in my pictures, I have one exposed hole that I don't know what connects to it. Can you tell me what it is and if I've killed my engine leaving it exposed...?

Also, I didn't know how to connect the brackets. So there is a pic of the bracket. The intake didn't make any rattling noises while I was driving but just want to make sure.

One last thing, will a K&N filter make a real improvement or is that just a myth?

Thanks,
Steven

I don't know what the extra hole is for on your intake. If you don't have a line for it, just plug it with something (screw, glue). You need toshorten that blue silicone hose. Sure you can leave it like that, but it just looks afflicted.

Yeah, plug that hole. Thats why I went w/ AEM...perfect fit. The mounting holes for your intake a 100% wrong and wont work. You'll have to build a custom bracket if you want some extra support. As for the filter thing, its not a myth. The filters on eBay are horrible and I wouldnt drive a day w/ one. Either get a K$N or an AEM DryFlow.

I think that BAterrel is telling you to clean up your engine bay. That chrome intake tube makes your dirty engine look that much worse.

extra hole is probably for a mass airflow sensor... wrap it up with electrical tape or duct tape (fixes all problems might i add)... usually the brackets will connect to a grounding bolt if you dont see one you either have to make custom brackets or zip ties (also fixes all problems)...
shoulda went with an aem v2 cold air intake.. perfect fit and i can notice the gain in power.. i got mine for 200..

Heres the thing, I payed $60 for mine and I'm fine with it. I'm starting to notice a bit more push. Moreso when its cold out at night. Will I notice anything more as the ecu is learning? Or is this the best it gets?

It's nothing drastic, so that's probably all you will get. Did you put a K&N or AEM filter on it yet?

Nope, don't have the money right now and the only way to access k&n products for me is ebay...

But I do plan on one in the future... will I notice power difference and fuel economy difference with K&N?
