do you think having a non-ex engine could have someting to do with it? does it matter if it's an LX or EX model for the intake? this may or may not be a problem, just a suggestion.

Maybe....EX trims tend to have the 6 which fares a lot better with aftermarket parts than the 4.

Then again, I went for an Injen intake...so I don't know.

on the intake, it specifies that it it for 1990-1993 (scroll to bottom of the sale page you mentioned) Honda accord vehicles. you have a 1997. that may also be the case.
