OK i have a 2000 accord ex 2.3 ulev. The current engine burns oil like crazy and im not going to do a rebuild because i need a new engine asap and dont have the time to rebuild. So I have some questions, I have researching this modle and have found there isnt much of a diffrence between the f23a1 and the f23a. what I want to know is will the f23a1 bolt up to my ulev manule transmission, and i know I will need the pcm from the f23a1 car. the digrams show diffrent sensors in the ulev exhaust then none ulev and there are a few extra connectors for emmisions. now if I was to get an f23a1 engine with the pcm coudnt i drop that in install the pcm and be able to run the f23a1 off of the ulev engine harness with no problems. because the car will read the connectors that are non ulev so the extra connectors for the ulev can just be left alone. So any honda techs out there let me know what my options are for this kinda swap if any thanks.

 

The wiring harness is different, so that would be a huge job for wiring.

I think you can turn that F23A1 into a "ULEV" engine by using the exhaust manifold & oxygen sensor from your old engine. Then keep your ULEV PCM. For that matter, keep your old engine around long enough to get the other one to work. For example you might have to harvest another 1 or 2 sensors, but I don't know which ones.

 

Is it not worth it to find out why the motor is burring oil first?

My motor was burning a bunch of oil until I replaced the PCV valve.

What have you done to fine the cause of the oil burning? Honda motors do not get oil burning because of worn rings very often at all.

 

Absolutely! Rule out the cheap easy stuff first. What's a PCV valve, $10??

I have 155K miles on my 2000 Accord and it doesnt' burn a drop. I changed the oil every 5K since new.

 

Yes I know now hondas are not known to burn oil like this. But i bore scoped cylenders 3,4 and they are scared up pretty bad. This is what happens when you buy used it might be good and it might not. I have done a full tune up with no luck. When you change the oil and drive all day when you check thew oil again it is black. thats the blow by from cylenders 3,4. From the looks of the the cylenders it seems the car was redlined or driven hard befor I got it. Thanks for the input

 

I think the easiest thing for you to do is to move all the sensors from your engine to the replacement engine then you would use the PCM and wiring that you already have.

 

I think for the ULEV you will need the ULEV exhaust manifold too. Possibly the A-pipe.
