Seized calipers and clutch problem
Hi. The clutch failed on my Honda Accord 2008 2.0 petrol. I had it towed to a garage and the mechanic ordered and replaced the clutch. Before he changed it he told me that the rear calipers have seized and needed changing too. I looked around for some calipers but no one had them in stock. I asked him if he can do the clutch for now and change the calipers a few days later once I was able to order them. He said that should be ok. Anyway he spent a couple of days trying to change the clutch. When he was finished he says he started the car and it went into gear easily. He moved it back and forth a little inside his garage and it moved. But when he started reversing the car out of the garage the car got stuck and he felt the clutch “go” again. He says the calipers had seized and the pressure this put on the clutch made it fail again. Her rang me to give him a hand to push the car out of the garage. The car was very difficult to move because of the seized calipers. We got another two people to give us a hand to push the car out of the garage and park it on the road. Now he says he doesn’t want to do the job because it is a very big and difficult job and to take it to someone else.
I don’t know what to do now. Can a new clutch fail due to seized calipers? Do I need to get a new clutch now or is there a chance the clutch can be repaired and something has just come loose? Do I need to replace the calipers first and then get the clutch changed?
The other thing is that I have breakdown cover. Am I able to call out the breakdown company again to tow the car to another garage or does this count as the same breakdown incident and now they won’t come out again? I called them out for a clutch problem the first time. Am I able to call them out for seized calipers?
Please help
