Default tappet-like noise when cold, under acceleration

Hi,

I'm getting a noise that sounds like tappets, except that I hear it mainly when I'm accelerating, and it goes away as the engine warms. Any ideas what this might be? The car is a '99 2.3 vtec with 5 speed trans, 147k miles. Thanks!

David

Check your oil level, your o2 sensers might be on there way out, or you might be running a little lean. There are so many things it could be without hearing it.
