Default tighten gas cap

hey so here in oregon we have gas attendants to pump are gas it is illegal to pump it. dunno why seems stupid and heres why on my accord i have that 3 clicks on the gas cap or your engine light will come on. so the first time i see it i freak and remember the gas thing. click it a couple of times. and goes off. so the next time i fill up i ask make sure you here 3 clicks please and the dude just cranks it. and so now pretty much ever time i get gas my light goes on. any suggestions to fix this light thing? could he have damaged something to cause this to constantly come on?

When I fill up in Oregon, I just get out and check it myself after they leave the car.

You can get a cap test done for fairly cheap, i think 20-30 bucks, maybe less?

I've NEVER had any problem from tightening the cap 5, 10, or 20 clicks. What do you mean he CRANKED it?

Ratchet that makes clicking sounds is supposed to prevent over-tightening. Its really not easy to overtighten it. He must have done something strange...

It could also have a problem unrelated to the gas cap. What trouble code does it have stored?

I crank mine down pretty hard every time I fill up and I haven't ever had any problems. Maybe you should have those codes read after all..
