I did the Carb Cleaner though the intake, and replaced the spark plugs. Its a lot better than it was, running a bit higher at idle, around 8-900 rpm. Im not sure which of these, or both, helped because i did them at the same time. Im still looking for a solution, but just so you know, its quite a bit better sssexy.

Thanks guys.

Oh on a side note, and im sure this has been hashed and rehashed, but i put in the NGK plugs, the number is all the same as recommended by honda, except at the end of the number mine have a GP I think for G-power. They are the platinum tip. Any experience?

DessertHonda,

remove the adjuster screw, clean it with carb cleaner, remove the intake tube and clean the throttle body, when readjust idle set it at 750 in gear ...
adjuster screw is the idle speed adjuster?
to clean the throttle body - do you mean remove and clean or spray it with carb cleaner. Would I do that with the engine running or does that kill the cat?

Thanks, my wife's '93 is having the exact same symptoms. Runs great but shakes alot at idle now.

just spray some Carb cleaner in the trottle body with the engine running. You will need someone to hold the trottle cause it will try to stall on you while you do it. I just removed the black air tube and sprayed away.

Spark Plugs: NGK only, Bosch plugs have a habbit of blowing the Coil due to a resistance issue.... That's one of the few things that everyone here agrees on completely... *LOL* Desert was also saying if you remove the idle adjuster screw completely and clean it off that will help. Then make sure you look at that rear motor mount for cracks/worn rubber, that will change the way it shakes etc....

Did they not inspect all the other mounts while replacing the one ,,??? Heck i would think that they would have inspected all the mounts before replacing just one and the rear mount is the one that makes the engine shake the most

and by th eway 600 dollars is way way way too much for the job

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...+MOUNT+%284%29
the rear mount cost around 200-260 dollars .. take a look at the link, buy it yourself and have them install it

My father got them to knock the price pretty low, its the laybour that costs a lot... i would attempt it myself if they didn't have to take the whole engine out to fix it! Thanks everyone for the help though!

sssexy70 - please report back after your rear mount change. We're about to do the very same with my wife's 93. They just replaced the front mount (collapsed) and it helped a little, but not enough. It's really frustrating to us as I pointed out that the left motor mount was collapsed and that all the internet buzz was that the rear mounts were more likely to cause the shaking.

Desserthonda or others - are there 2 mounts in the rear of a 93 automatic? The parts diagram suggests that there is one rubber mount and one hyrdaulic mount. Is that the case? I assume they both go out at about the same time? How long does it take to change them with the car driven onto ramps and with a floor jack to prop the motor up? Does the engine really have to be pulled as sssexy70 was told???

thanks
Gary
