Total noob to cars
Just a little intro- I'm new on this forum. This is the first car forum I've joined. I drive a 2000 Honda Accord Coupe 4-cyl, 5-speed. I've always been interested in cars my whole life but now I want to further my interests and turn cars into a hobby of mine.
I'm looking for a layout of the F23A engine, from the bottom up. I'm also looking for some kind of documentation online that I can use to learn about the different parts of the engine- little technical things. I understand the principles in how an engine operates, but I'm unsure of all the little bits. When the funds come in, I want to swap out the head from my F23 to an H22, but honestly I don't even know what the head is! Any information would be appreciated, because I don't even know where to start. I've searched online, but all people start out talking about cars from a point which I don't understand.

1st off where did you get the idea of swapping a h22 head on your block? Since your a nooob this is not easy by any means. You also won't gain much power out of the head swap....it's a waste of money unless your doing it for a particular reason.
IF you want more power out of your car...don't waste your time with you f23 engine. The internals are kinda week if you want to add some serious power. You best bet is to swap a h22 engine. Has a good bit of power stock. Then you can add the simple bolt-ons (header/intake exhaust ect..) and you will have a nice accord with some pep in its step.

Well, the purpose was to create an engine capable of handling boost. I'd want to keep the stock pistons, and since the compression ratio would be so low (as opposed to the K-series pistons that're popular for the G23 builds, that bring the compression ratio up to >12:1) I could boost it real nice.
Another question- with just the stock F23a, could a see an increase in power with a short ram intake?
This also shouldn't detract from my will to learn though
even if the G23 is a dumb idea. I still want to know about Honda engines and learn all the technical stuff.

The f23 block isn't the best to boost on stock internals. The pistons have weak ring lands and the rods are known to be very weak as well.
The hybrid swap isn't bad if you want to boost but the f23 internals will need to be replaced. If you get on honda-tech.com or accordinglydone.com and find a guy name "PirateMcFred" and he can tell you everything in's and out's of the f23 block and the best combinations of OEM parts you can use to make good hybrid.
But also the down fall for the hybrid swaps they aren’t all that reliable for daily driven car.
If you swap for the k series pistons then you can’t really boost on 12 c/r that is for all motor set ups.
For the added power you could also just low boost your stock engine. You will still make good power for a street car. The biggest thing about using a h22 head is being able to rev high enough to take advantage of vtec and the cam’s that are in the h22 head. The f23 red line is much lower than the h22 red line. Trust me you will end up hitting a lot of good snags while doing a h22 head swap on a f series block. I started building one and I put it to aside for now.
Go over to cb7tuner.com and research about using the h22 head on f series blocks. Even know that sit isn’t for your gen accord. It has a lot of info you can suck up since all the f series engine are pretty much the same in one way or another.
