What engine ?

I have a 1997 accord sedan ex auto trans with 2.2 4 cyl engine . How do i id the engine vtec or not ? Car was built in us. thanks for any info.

see if your valve cover says "vtec". Or check your engine code inside the engine bay. Under the 1distributor will say "f22b1" "f22b2" fallowed by numbers. But since you have a ex you should have a f22b1 (vtec) engine.

Vtec is not on valve cover . Numbers on block is f22b2 below that is 4500950.I bought the car new so everthing is orig .

you have a NON vtec engine if you have a f22b2 engine
