Default What engine should I swap on my '92 accord?

Hey everyone I'm new to this forum. Figured I would start doing some learning and little research online for my new car fairly new at modding and boosting. A friend of mines just gave me a '92 honda accord automatic for free because he did not want to fix it. (relay transmission computer) he did not have the time. I just want to use it for everyday driving, but want it to have some BASEBALLS to it. So here I have it, and I'm thinking of getting the engine swapped. I had an H22 in mind. Does anyone have an opinion on what should I do or how can I do this?

Thumbs up Hello Member... :)

Hi and Welcome to the Forum...

The 1990 thru 1997 Accords and Preludes and Acura CL's can be your engines to look at while thinking about swaps.

Thanks to the Honda engineers and designeers between these cars make the swapping of engines between these cars easier because of the similar chassis and body sizes and styles.

Both the Accord and the CL's which really are one and the same do share a relationship with the Preludes.
This helps make it fairly simple for you and your crew to bolt in a bigger and a more powerful engine .

My personal choice of a swap would be the 220 HP JDM H22A from the
1997 thru 2001 Prelude S , This engine was even offered in the Accords
back then..this should show you that this would be a compatible donor swap..

I hope this will get you on the road to success..if you decide to pursue your issue..

I would STRONGLY recommend staying away from that import site "jdmtigerjapanese.com/" I have heard and read ALOT of horror stories about the engines they sell.

hmotorsonline.com has a very good rep. and good prices too

If you have a issue with engine hmotors sells you they will make it right. This other place you MIGHT be lucky to get a phone call back. Also that company is overseas unlike hmotors in here is the states (California)

f23a1 engine is a good swap since their readily available and if your planning to rebuild for performance they can make some pretty decent numbers if boosted. Some have said 500hp on stock internals but i would build it with good components to be on the safe side

I found that the F23A1 from a 95 accord fit right in my 91 Accord LX with one modification of the drivers side motor mount.
Steep hills are no longer taxing on the motor as they were with the 2.2 engine.
