Hey guys
my last post talked about the problems in the V6 Accord.
are there any problems in the 4-cyl one as well or no. plus the VTEC, is it better in the 4-cyl or the V6 ?
my friend says the VTEC in these cars isnt fully functional or something
is that true ?

the 4 cylinder ones seem to be fine... Never heard anything about the VTEC in those being funky except I believe it's a SOHC engine.... here's a great link to explain what he is probably talking about.... That should give you enough information to explain to him why they work just fine.... Great for turbo's

When he says it's not fully functioning, he's probably referring to the fact that the VTEC only affects that intake and not the exhaust valves on a SOHC engine. The V6 from 98-02 is only available with an auto, so if you've got your heart set on a manual, then the decision is made for you. A 4 cylinder with a manual will be about as peppy as the V6 auto around town at low speeds, but passing at highway speeds is where the V6 will shine. The 4 cylinder is noisier if that's a concern. If you're planning on modding it, the V6 will be more expensive. If you want to do headers, you'll need a set of 2. It has dual exhaust from the factory, so if you want to upgrade the mufflers you'll need 2.
Yes SirNasty..great post on the Vtec link..very informative and bebeficial...
Thank you for the find...

I gotta call you out bro
there is NO way you can take a properly running 98 V6 accord on the highway, you might get him from a roll but not at anything above 40mph......V6 will walk an I4 with IE and chip all day long at highway speeds
i'm sorry but 165-170 crank HP <>= 158WHP. I had a '98 accord LX V6 and I could easily take K24 accords with it.......and those things have about the same HP as a F23 with I/E
ORIGINAL: HondaRacer4Vtec
i have a 4cylinder with intake and exhust and chip and my bro has a 1998 v6 stock.
i take his v6 on the highway anyday. The auto trans suck on the V6 hold bakc the power.
