Flywheel timing mark plug...
On the 1993 Accord there's a little plug where the engine model is inscribed into the metal plate. If you pull the plug off you can see a timing mark on the flywheel.
But the plug is kind of crooked. If you pull it off and look at it it looks sort of bent like it was warped, probably from heat. It definitely doesn't sit flush with the surface. In addition the metal plate it plugs into starts to bend towards the top of the engine and the plug appears to be longer than where the bend starts so the plug is forced up by the upward bend of the metal.
Then there's the actual opening where you observe the timing mark. The opening is not a rectangle, it's a crooked rectangle like someone cut into it lazily, all skewed on one side, like someone tried to push a rectangle over.
Is this normal? Is this fine? Does it matter if dirt and water and crap gets into the hole because the plug isn't flush?

I've heard of folks holding the crankshaft for removing crankshaft pulley by jamming a big screwdriver or pry bar into that opening and into the flywheel teeth. This might damage the pointer and opening.
As long as rubber grommet stays in the hole I don't how any harm.
good luck
