Default '00 Accord 3.0, no mods, IDLE is LOW

Hello folks, maybe a simple thing. This 3.0 with automatic has 173K miles. No big issues ever, once I replaced the failed transmission (at 150K). The idle sits at about 500. But it drops to 250 or so, occasionally?/ randomly? but doesn't stall. I was in there replacing the PS supply hose, tons of fun, and also plugs, air, cabin and oil filters, oil, and I cleaned the throttle body because it was "hunting", surging, whatever that's called. A IACV solved that. I guess my question is, has anyone actually adjusted the idle using the screw, as I might on my old VW? Or are there more common tune up procedures that might correct the idle? I'm thinking I cleaned the intake manifold "recently", but I'm 60 and my brain is old and loses track of "time". (I'm happy to replace sensors, etc, but I need some direction. Thank you).

Take a closer look at your tachometer gauge. On the 94-97 accords, there isn't a 250 rpm mark avove zero. so the first mark is 500 rpm. Normal idle is ~700-750 rpm, so the second mark above zero.

When the rpm gage jumps down, do you notice a change in the engine rpm?

Before messing with the adjustment screw, I'd suggest plugging in an obd2 scanner that can read some live data directly from the engine computer. The 95 V6 obd2 connector is behind the ash tray. Look at the PCM rpm and see if it matches the gauge. You could be dealing with a flaky connection in the gauge.

Ok, good idea. I think I'll get to try that Friday.
Do I notice a drop in engine sound or speed when that needle goes low? Not sure, but it's a tad rough, like it might stall. Which makes me think it wants more air.

Ok, thanks again and sorry for delay.
i guess it's ok. I did not get data, I drove it and it was great, then parked and watched the gauge drop low again. I had the code for O2 sensor pop up, and i cleared it, pushed the plug wire on tighter, affirmed the O2 was not unplugged or damaged, and just drove some more. The tach seems consistent, just above midway from 0 to 1,000. I keep thinking i could clean the intake manifold: but I don't really want to!

What code are you getting for the O2 sensor?
