Title says all, I’m lookin to potentially drop some cheddar im hopes to refurbish and tune up my 01 v6 accord to as close to 300hp as possible. Looking to drop $2-$4K. I’m at low-avg miles for the model/year, and I want to run it into the ground and push 300k miles on it. And as explained I want it to be a nice ride, smooth and fast all the way till the end. I already seriously enjoy this vehicle and im not in the financial situation to buy a new car just yet. Any help is welcomed, thank you

• High power output
• Long term reliability
• Low cost

Here's the thing, the V6 engine can certainly be made to pump out 300hp, and you might even be able to do it for $4,000 (if you do all of the fab work yourself; there are no kits), but if you do that, you're going to be replacing transmissions every few months. The transmission in your car is already considered fragile as glass with the stock 200hp your engine currently makes. As far as I know, there are exactly zero upgrades for that transmission which will imbue it with enough robustness to be able to reliably handle even 250hp. So, if you want a reliable car which will last to the 300,000 mile mark, you're going to need to find a wrecked 2002-2003 Acura CL Type-S 6-Speed manual and convert your car to a manual transmission; figure $8,000 for the whole project.

 

It might be easier to find a 02-03 Acura CL Type S 6 speed manual car to drive rather than part out. It'll probably be cheaper in the long run to start out with the right car, and do upgrades to it instead.
