Default 01 rear wheel bearing

My wifes 01 EX coupe with 76,000 miles has been making a little more noise than seems normal from the rear end when driving at normal speeds. We replaced the tires with Bridgestone G009s because it was ready for them anyway. When I was rotating the tires I spun them with the car on stands as I always do just out of habit. Noticed a fair amount of noise from the drivers side rear. I quickly ordered a bearing/hub assembly as I'm a little too overanxious to work on our vehicles. Anybody else have these things gobad with such low mileage? No crazy driving or sitting in water that I know of. Anything I should prepair for that might make this job difficult?

Thanks

Talk about a gravy grabber job!
Support the car, tire off, brake caliper off, rotor off, [with your hand impact driver], pop the center cap and the 32mm nut is just waiting to be ripped loose. Taa Daa

Thanks

When the hub shows up I'll have it on there in Nascar time!

Thanks again

The part is installed and I can say that it is the best money I've spent on a car in quite some time. Really quieted down the Honda and removed any hint of vibration that there may have been. Thanks!!!

Did the noise the bearing was making sound like tire noise to you? Did it sound like it was coming from the back of the car or was it hard to tell when driving? I ask because my 02 is very noisey and I keep telling myself it is the tires, but I'm starting to really wonder if it isn't something else now.

if you can tell where the noise is coming from then jack up the car and rotate the tire(s) by hand, just give them a spin and listen, if it makes noise it's probably the bearing

Thanks to you for taking the time to post back the 'fix'; so many times we are just left to wonder if we helped someone or not.

It took approximately two hours but that inclued cleaning off some ice before starting the job.

Yes, the noise did sound like tire noise. We actually replaced the tires about a month ago and were dissapointed with the lack of difference in noise. I noticed the problem when I was rotating the tires some time back and thought one made a little more noise than it should when I spun it by hand with the car on jack stands. Another interesting thing to note is that when cornering the car at approximately 50 to 65 miles an hour the sound would change. I think that probalby should have been a heads up for me but I doubted that a wheel bearing would be bad at 75,000 miles.

You guys definately helped.
Thanks again!!!
