If your valve seals are bad you will have some smoke at start up and oil deposits on your spark plugs. Your amount of oil consumption is hard to imagine without an oil leak. My Accord loses a quart per 1500 to 2000 miles.
I have a 2003 Honda accord with the same oil burning problem. What ever happen with yours? Did you keep putting oil in and did you have any other major problems because of oil burn?

is there smoke coming out of your tail pipe. try idling the car for a few minutes then rev it if a puff of smoke comes out that could point to valve seals . I have a neighbor who needed a tranny so he asked me if the engine was worth putting a tranny in . I did a compression test (for free) took about 15 minutes. what the hell is wrong with your mechanic!!

there is no physical reason that a vtec would burn more oil, other than some vtec owners
put their vtec to full use. It's a know fact that vtec owners get more speeding tickets than non vtec ( I just made up this fact )

Default Oil consuming 2003 Accord

I have owned engines from Harleys's to Freightliners and NEVER had anything burn oil like this 2.4 Honda Accord. Where is it going? As I read these forums I'm not learning an answer but the problem is definately out there. Sounds like overhaul or "deal with it" if you've changed the PVC had no help. I did the synthetic thing and slowed it a bit but you can't take your eye off this dip stick. It is "always" low or headed down. The car gets 31 to 33 mpg consistently and performs well. I will do a compression check but don't expect to see anything. What numbers would give me the red light that an overhaul with rings is the issue?

I am having the exact same issue on my 2003 Accord too. About 1.5 - 2 qts every 5000 miles. I am going to check the PCV valve and keep my fingers crossed that this will resolve the problem. I love the car but will probably end up selling it if I can't correct it.
