4 cylinder '02 Accord Coupe, 88,000 miles, my 16 year old daughter's car. Occasionally, it will crank like it wants to start, but won't. Everything seems to be working fine, but it won't start. Most of the time it starts fine. Maybe the starter?

 

If the starter is turning the engine at the same speed as when it does fire up, then you can rule out the starter.

During hot summer day, I would guess that the main fuel relay could be the culprit. I would get in the habit of listening for the fuel pump to prime every time you get into the car.

When you first turn the key to the II position and do not try to start the car, there are several clicks from behind the dash. In the middle of the clicks the fuel pump turns on for about two seconds. It is a faint whirling/buzzing sound that comes from the back seat area.

If you do not hear the fuel pump prime when the car does not start, then I would use a test light to see if the main fuel relay is sending power to fuel pump. We can give you more details if you want to to test it that way.
