'02 random electrical loss
Hi all, hopefully someone can help me with my car's issue. I have a 2002 Accord SE 4cyl with 145K. While driving, the vehicle will randomly lose electrical power for a split second. Usually the radio and air shut off, and sometimes the gauges drop. They all immediately come back on-line. The clock has reset a couple times. This electrical loss does not seem to affect the engine though and i just keep on driving. It usually happens between 25-45 mph, but sometimes happens at stops, rarely faster than 50 mph. The car has no problem starting either.
So right now it is more of an annoyance than anything else. But I don't know how long until they don't come back up. any ideas would be appreciated.
BTW, it has been several years since I replaced the battery, don't know if that matters or not.

Look for a loose ground. Suggest getting a shop manual (check Online Manuals in DIY forum on this site or ebay seller automanualsource) and check underhood and underdash grounds for tightness. Any body or engine work might suggest more likely spots for investigation.

no, I can never make it happen, sometimes I will take a 1/2 hour trip and it never happens, sometimes it happens several times in one minute. Completely unpredictable.
Thanks TexasH, I'll check the grounds.

Same problem on '91 LX 5sp
Please post back if you determine what your problem is. I am having the same problem and it has been getting worse. At $95 per hour diagnostic fee...it will not take long before troubleshooting costs more than the car is worth (212k miles 5sp LX 4dr).

Solved:
I drove the car yesterday and this morning without the problem happening. Previously, it would happen every minute or so when I touched an electrical component - windows, blinker, brake, etc.
In my case, I was just starting to check everything from the battery to the fuse box and I was able to twist the positive battery cable. I removed it, cleaned it, put it back and haven't had the problem since.
Sils79...I hope yours is as simple as a loose battery cable!!!
Cheers,
Keith
