Default 02 transmisson concerns

Hi Guys,
Have an 02 Accord EX V-6, I picked up a couple of months ago with only 22,000 miles on the clock.
I'm already noticing the infamous signs and symptoms of a failing transmission which is notorious in this year and with this engine combo. You know the deal, hard jerk when coming to a complete stop, hard shifts etc...
Is there anything that can be done to prevent total failure at this point? The fluid was changed at 19,000 miles.I don't yet have any flashing lights or trouble codes. No slipping on acceleration. If it does crap out I'm hoping my extended warranty will cover the trans.

My main concern: Is this car safe to drive? is it possible the trans could lock up while I'm driving?
Shame on you Honda. I bought your product for reliability.

At this point there probably isn't much you can do, other than taking it easy on it. What was the time frame on the last transmission fluid change? since the car obviously hasn't had many miles put on it, but has it been years since the 19k service? And was Honda automatic transmission fluid used?

Yea, the last trans service was done by Honda at 17,000 in March of 2010. Do you think it may beneift from a fluid exchange?
