Hi there

I'm looking to buy a Accord as my next car and have been doing the rounds today at car auctions and dealerships looking for one

One unexpected thing was a 04 Accord that had done 76k miles and had some stone chips (no surprise there) but there was rust under those chips!

All the components under the bonnet looked rusty/corroded too

Didn't think this was possible with such a new car, aren't the new Accords supposed to have a galvanised body?

Done some searching on the web and couldn't find any info confirming or denying this

Anyone out there able to help?

it's just metal under the rust protectant and paint, so a deep enough chipwill eventually rust. it can rust fast depending on the climate it's in.

all metal on the engine and exhaust will start to rust after a few years. there's nothing you can really do about it.

 

Ah ok, perhaps the last person who owned it lived by the sea, I've heard that the sea air and spray causes cars to rust very quickly
