04 Window master switch problem
Hi,
Bought a used 2004 EX 4 door Sedan Accord yesterday, and I had a question about the window master switch and remote key.
The previous owner told me that he changed the master switch out a few years ago. I'm not sure yet if it's OEM or not. Anyhow, the remote key functions do not work.
I looked around and found the instructions to re-program the key(s),
but I still can't get it to function after many attempts.
All doors closed, all doors unlocked, put key in to II and press lock button.
Repeat 4 times from 0 to II, pressing lock each time on remote, but I never get a clunk from the master switch to signal programming mode.
I saw one comment where someone said the master switch had to be programmed by Honda with VIN and mileage. Is this true?
If someone here has seen this problem before and has some insight, I would appreciate the assistance. The battery in the key reads 2.8 volts, and the led lights when a button is pushed.
Thanks, Frank

1. The driver's door master switch does not need to be program by Honda, or with VIN and mileage.
2. Does all the power door locks and windows work properly? Do they all lock and unlock with the key from the driver's door key cylinder?

1) Thank you for the confirmation about the master switch/VIN thing.
2) All switches work properly inside of the car, and yes, the key can manually lock and unlock each door.
Also, since trying (and failing) to re-program the main keys, they no longer start the car. Only the valet key gives ignition. Green blinking key/immobilizer.
1. Gently pry up the driver's switch and see what is the Honda part number. Report what the part number is.
The driver's switch for 2005-2007 is different than a 2003-04. It is possible the wrong part was substituted.
2. Regarding the main keys no longer working to start the car, it may be an issue with the transponder chip in the key fob. Are the main keys OEM?
3. You can try a reset of the multiplex control system by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15 minutes. You'll need the radio security code afterward.

1) Doesn't look like OEM:
C8H-HH4CM-D25
35750-
13X6G2
SDA-H1 2
CMII ID:2002DJ0321
NO.0124887
G8D-384H-B
2) They both appear to be OEM keys. One definitely is, has the VIN on the back.
The other has no VIN and an "R" is engraved on the key stem (OEM replacement?)I think it broke and it was repaired. I have the original stem without the electronics in a bag.
3) Before I try multiplex reset, how would I learn the radio code and procedure?
Thanks for your assistance

The driver's switch is not OEM. It may be faulty and why you're not able to use the remote to control the locks.
The radio code should be on a card, which the original owner would of had and given. If you do not have the code, check the passenger glove box for a sticker, sometimes a dealer will write it down and adhere it there.
Otherwise, obtain the radio code from the dealer. See Honda owner's site for instructions on obtaining the radio serial number just in case to match the VIN.

Honda part number 35750-SDA-A12, was superseded by Honda part number 35754-SDA-306 (revised part); both will work for a 2003-04 EX sedan.
Honda part number35750-SDA-A14, was superseded by Honda part number 35754-SDA-309 (revised part); will work for 2005-07 EX sedan.
The electrical circuit diagrams shows a difference.

Thanks for the information. I'll post back when it arrives. Frank
OK, I put it in and it works. Thank you!
One of the master keys still won't start the car. It does the locks & panic, but still blinks green key. I tried 4 or five times. Not sure if the electronics are bad, or if it's the key shaft itself.
It's good to have one that works anyway.
