Ok so when I stick the key in the ignition and turn it two the second position everything turns on like it should.

I go to turn it to the III position and start the car, if I dont go all (like come up short) or when the car actually rolls over and turns on, if I do not release it immediately, it sounds like it is "shorting out" something to the left of the steering wheel column.

Any thoughts? And yes I know how to turn on a car, I have never had this problem before, its fairly recent.

 

Maybe you're noticing the assortment of relays in the dash do their clicking.
