Default 08 Accord.. noisy brakes at slow speed.. OMG!

Ok. I know.. the first thing youre probably thinking is.. change the pads.. but.. heres the deal.

When I apply the brakes everything is cool until juuuuuuuuuust before I completely stop.. then it sounds like someone is using grandmas coffee grinder under the floor boards. I mean.. UGLY noise. So.. I pull the wheels.. pads in great shape.. rotors.. smooth as glass. I replaced the front pads a while back cause the stock ones wore out within months of purchasing the car new. I figured the noise was my pads wearing down .. bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Wrong-O!.. Im totally at a loss to explain the noise. Its ONLY when breaking.. NOT when moving at very slow, slow, or moderate speed... heaven knows I NEVER go fast!. any ideas anyone?

I assume you checked both sides of the rotor. Typically a noise like that is vibration coming from some brake component. Check and make sure your slide pins are tight, clean and lubricated. Also make sure the contact points of the pads have dampening grease on them. I don't know what grandma's coffee grinder sounds like, but I'd start there.

On the early 8th generation Accords, it's the rear brake pads that were known to wear fast. Honda issued revised rear brake pads. Check the rear pads, usually the inner pads were out first.

Other noise may be like Wazari stated. On my 2009, the front brakes made a little noise from the first day I took it off the showroom. The fronts lasted almost 90,000 miles before I replaced them due to the rotors (pads were still okay; but, I put in new ones with the rotors). When I pulled the front caliper slide pins, one of the pins was corroded with no silicone grease on it. It may have came new with no grease on that one pin; noise from day one. I put in a new pin and grease and it's been quiet ever since.

Dampening grease.. hmmm ok.. so then bacon and possum grease wont work eh?... Dang ...... Yeah I looked at both sides of all the rotors, nice and smooth.. and the pads all have plenty of life in them. its just flat out weird.. but I will see about some brake grease and give it a shot.

Check the caliper slider pins, then clean and grease them with some silicone brake grease.

if you didn't replace with OEM pads, do it and it will solve your problem...if you did, well....????
