Hello, in having a problem with my 89 honda accord lxi. The fans will not turn on at any temp intill the car is off. After car is off the fans run till the car is dead. I believe i k ow what the issue is, and I think it is the fan timer box under the passenger seat. Im looking all over for this part but can only find 91 and up. Any chance any of you can find this part? Would help alot. Any info will help, thanks

 

Poorman is most familiar with these, so I'm sure he'll give you some suggestions. I don't have a good wiring diagram for the 89.

So the fans will turn on and stay on when you turn the ignition switch off and run until the battery is dead?

Looks like the 86-89 lxi and the 85-91 prelude Si use the same part. I'd say your best bet is a junkyard to find the part.

 

Yeah, the fans will only run when the car is compleatly off. Its temps rocket and never turn on till car is off. The car is a manual and no luck at yards as around me they keep em for a day and then smash them. Another thing is once you turn off the car the fans keep running till the car dies. The temp sensors are all new, and a new radiator due to old one being cracked

 

So this only happens when the car is sitting still, if you are driving down the road at <25 MPH everything is fine.

 

Yeah, when driving fans wont turn on but the cars heat stays midish while driving.
