Default 1989 Honda Accord LX idle issue, plus turning ignition off motor flutters off.

Hi, this is my first post, thank you for having me and taking the time to read this. I just bought an 89 Accord LX manual trans, it is carborated, everything is factory and it runs really great, was well maintained. Has 239,000 miles on it. Has a couple of issues. First, when I start it cold, the Idle will rev high up to 2500RPM at times and stay stuck there til I give it gas. It seems to want to keep rising while just idling on its own at times. If I try to drive it to soon, when I hold in the clutch to shift it will idle high around 2000 RPM between shifts, like its stuck. If I allow it time to warm up, it seems to idle really low when I first start driving, like it's about to die. It basically fluctuates until I drive it for a bit, then it seems to idle fine. The second and biggest problem I'm having is, about 50% of the time, when I turn the ignition off, the motor will continue to try and turn over like its bogging down for a couple of seconds before finally dieing. They could be related to the same problem, I'm not sure, but like I said, the motor is well maintained, so it isn't a visible issue. I took the air intake off and sprayed into the carb where I could get to, but that didnt fix it, so if you have an idea please share it, thank you for reading

Sorry I can't give a whole detail decription right now.

Search and look for tests for the fast idle unloader. It is in the manual you can down load in the Common DIY Threads post at the top.

Since you just got it, a tune up might help the "run on"....best place to start right now for that.

sorry the best I can do today.
