Default 1990 accord ex ignition problem

Here is the situation I am having. For the last few months when i start the car, there is no problem. Fires right up. All power working except to the radio. I have to "fiddle" with the key a bit to get the radio to power up. Once its on, no problem til next start.
BUT NOW....
When i go to start the vehicle, it starts and immediately dies. No power to anything. Dash is dead no lights beeps or anything. As the starter turns the engine, if i now "fiddle" with the key, the car will remain running and does not die.

So i am uncertain what the problem is. Is this the ignition? Loose wiring? What else could it be???

Thanks....
mike

It sounds to me like it's the ignition.... here's a different question but do you have a lot of keys or heavy key chains on your key ring? I've heard that if you've got a fair amount of weight it can wear out your ignition (over time) and cause some of this issues (amongst others) but that's all based on hearsay...

I have no alarm system on this car.
Lots of keys??? Like 7 lock remote and small swiss army knife. Not much weight...

Anybody put a new ignition in? Is it difficult???

Thanks for the speedy replies....

you need to replace the ELECTRICAL PART of the Ignition switch... Do not get the complete switch just the electrical part, honda dealer sells it for around 45-50 dollars

sorry...been out of town for the last week.
So this electrical part, is it the wore harness or some part that is in the ignition? Ie..location. And is it just a matter of plugging it in?
Could a guy find something on ebay? Ie another whole ignition switch??

A little tight on cash, and I want to make sure I get it fixed for the best price!!
Thanks...

best to buy a new one from honda. the reason for you problem is the contacts inside are worn. you can try a junkyard one/ebay, but who knows how long it will last. its not the whole iginiton just the switch #10 in link below

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...INATION+SWITCH

its not a big deal at all to change. disconect battery. remove the plastic surround that covers the steering column. on the left side you will see a white part with wires attached to it. take out the 8mm/ screws bolts and unplug it. reverse instructions and you will be good.
