Default 1991 Honda Accord - ignition problem

Hi everyone,

I own a 1991 Accord - 4ws EXi
160,000 kms (100,000 miles)

The Problem:
On some occasions when I try to start the car it won't start at all.
I turn it over, and it feels like it just doesn't want to ignite.

I had a road-side technician have a look and he checked if I was getting good spark, and yes.
He checked the fuel injector - and yes that was working.

He told me next time that this happens I should start the car with my foot to the floor to open up the throttle, and it should start.

The problem didn't happen for another week. Needless to say starting the car with my foot down, didn't work either (yeah, I thought that was weird advice)

Again I had the road-assistance called out.
This time he suggested that my mechanic perform a pressure test on the fuel line to see if I was getting any fuel pressure.
That's come back normal, and the car is starting perfectly at the mechanic.

I've noticed the problem to happen if I leave my car out in the sun for prolonged periods of time, it will sometimes happen. As, both times when I have had the problem was when I was trying to leave work, and the work car park is an uncovered parking lot.

It's also happened when I take the car for a short spin, like 5 or so minutes.
I go to the supermarket, and come back after 10 mins, and again the car doesn't start.

Just FYI it is summer over here in Australia, and the temps can get over 40 degrees C (104 degrees F).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey redbull thanks again for the advice!
Looks like the fix definitely worked.

Just a heads up for the right hand drive folks, the fuel relay is located on the right side, near the steering wheel behind the cruise control box.

To fix you'll need a 10mm socket with extension to get the cruise control box outta the way.
Hardest part is getting it out.
