1992 Accord Ex Belt Screech on startup
Hello everyone,
First post here! Been lurking for a while. I'm currently selling my 1992 Accord in pretty good condition with only 147,000 miles, as I just got a killer deal on an '03 accord LX from my friend.
Earlier this year my 92 Accord started making this loud screeching sound when turning on the car. It's a quarter-second screech I start the engine. Sometimes the engine/belt (or whatever it is) will "skip", and I have to turn the key back and start it again. I just want to be honest with the buyer and let them know before handing the pink slip over. It runs great and has been held in good condition.
I made a quick clip so you guys can hear the noise:
Any feedback greatly appreciated!!!!

I had this on my 94 EX. It is the starter, not the accessory belts. Suggest to verify by removing accessory belts and performing start.
Fix is to remove starter and replace starter or clean/lube the shaft the start drive gear slides on. It gets to sticky and starter stays engaged as engine starts, leading to overdrive of starter and squeal you hear. This is a problem on a number of Honda/Acura models.
good luck
