1992 accord LX sedan trans problem?
Not sure if I am in the right place, but I have a question about my car.
It seems as thought the car is not shifting into overdrive all the time. No lights or warnings are on. Fluid level seems to be ok( I think that it is a little more than it should be). The car is a automatic. It shifts normally into all gears just (sometimes) won't go pass fourth.

Unless I am misreading your post you said that from 60-80 you run 2000-3000 rpms and at 60-65 it was running 2500 rpms? That would appear to be a difference of about 500 rpms at 60 which can be the difference of a 5 mph headwind or tailwind....

First drive would have been with the wind and then on the way back( when I noticed the "problem") I would have been against the wind. Would the wind cause that much difference in the rpms, it was not that windy out in Houston. Maybe I am just crazy???? I have not driven a 4 banger in quite sometime. I own a gas guzzling SUV.

Sounds like what you're talking about is the Auto trans lockup not engaging. I'm having the exact same problem on my 93 Accord LX with 162K on it and am here trying to look for a common cause. Sometimes it works and engages as it is supposed to and others it never does so the RPMs are higher than what they should be for a given speed.
Anyone ideas on what would cause this to be intermittant? Is this a common issue with this year range?

Suggest checking Trans Control Unit (TCU) to see if a code is stored. Some codes doen't cause the S or D4 light to flash. Several (3, 6, 11) of them have symptom (LU clutch does not engage). Code 6 seems promising (fault is open in shift position console switch circuit; wiring, coupling, or switch).
Easiest way to get TCU codes is pull back pax side carpet, turn keyswitch ON, and read the LED through clear window just right of center on the ECU/TCU module. Flashes are same code as ECU, long flash, F=10 and short flash, f =1 (ex F-f=11).
good luck
