1992 Timing Belt Tensioner question?
Hi, I am working on a 1992 Honda Accord 2.2L EX AT. I am in the process of putting back together the timing belt area. My question is very specific so i hope i can give enough detail to get this figured out so here it goes. I am putting back on the two Tensioners for the timing belts. The back tensioner (closest to the engine) has a sloted spot for the bolt to fit into on the left hand side of the bracket. it appears that bolt was my orginal problem becuase when i took it apart that bolt was missing. According the the Chilton's manual it just says to tighten the bolt to 33ftlbs of torque. Since I do not have that bolt i went to my local parts store and just bought a standard bolt and washer. I am not sure if that bolt washer combo is correct, because on the outer tensioner the bracket that it attaches to has a special bolt that has a stop built into it to allow that arm to move as the belt wears and the spring will keep the tension correct. I am concerned that if i just use this stardard bolt on the first tensioner that it will not be allowed to move/ rotate as the belt wears and the sping wont be able to keep the belt tight. I hope somone out there can understand my question and can shead some light for me.
thanks for the help.

Well now I am really confused because the original part has clear markings on it where a bolt was attached plus there is a corresponding threaded hole in the block and in the chiltons manual to remove the belt it says to loosing the tensioner bolt push down on the fully away from belt ans then retighten it to remove the belt. So now I am really not sure what I am supposed to do.

You use a bolt on the slot of 17 to lock the tensioner loose to remove the belt. You remove that bolt to allow the tensioner to do its job. Someone likely screwed that up before and forgot to remove that bolt. Do not repeat that mistake. Listen to deserthonda, he knows exactly what he is talking about.
