Not completely familiar with Civic idle-control system...

A friend had a 2000 Civic and the idle control system wasn't the same as Accords. Procedure for setting it up was NOT the same as my post in DIY about setting the BASE idle.

Still, when you unplug the IACV it should drop low. So if it's already too low, then unplugging the IACV will make it stall.

You need a manual for the procedure for properly setting the idle.

Hey, we try to help all. You have an Accord and are a member here, if we can help with other things we will. Heck I've posted about a Saab and a Volvo on here just trying to get ideas and advise.

Like Jim, not real good with the civic but think about the basic's. I'd bet they have an IACV of some sorts. So look for that and as always a good clening of the TB while there never hurts.

My friends 2000 Civic had an IACV, but the download shop-manual had a procedure for setting the idle that was completely different from the Accord procedure. I was simply warning that you shouldn't just use the Accord procedure.

I bet you could find a 93 Civic shop manual at the same place as the download manuals that are linked from the "common-DIY" thread.

There IS a "sister-forum" www.hondacivicforum.com where I'm not a moderator. Frankly I haven't spent enough time on that forum to be able to tell you where to find a good thread on the subject.
