Default 1993 Honda Accord LX- left tail light lens removal

New to the Honda world, so please be kind with your comments.

I just purchased a 93 accord lx sedan, and i noticed the LEFT side tail light has a build up of water, and also some kind of leafy things at the bottom(the WHITE part of the tail light lens.

I removed the assembly, took a hose to the inside, but the green, leafy stuff is not reachable through the hole. It seems like its on the other side.

My question is, i would like to pull the lens away from the assembly , but i am having a hard time figuring out the best way to do it, without breaking the lens.

I am sure there is some type of sealant holding the plastic assembly to the lens, but i am not sure if i am missing something else, that needs to be removed, or unbolted.

Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

I always thought the parts were plastically welded together. I had a leak in a 90 Accord that new foam gaskets would not fix. I drilled a drain hole to allow water to drain. This was a fix.

Leaf may be algae that has grown in the water.

Check ebay and amazon for replacement and used parts.

good luck

Thank you for the reply.

I had no luck at the junkyard today finding a replacement .

Maybe i will try the "drill " method, since i got pretty much all the water out of the lens, but not the "algae".

You might try some cleaner (simple green, purple cleaner, ect) and see if that will get some of the growth out of there.

As TX said, ebay or car-part might be a place to look for a replacement.
