Default 1994 EX Runs hot.

My 94 accord ex is running hot, the temperature jumps from below medium mark to between red and middle after I get off the interstate. Its a crap shoot on city streets. It gets hot at red lights and I am forced to turn on the ac just to have the fans running.

I have flushed, and bled the coolant system.
I have disassembled and cleaned my radiator. (ALOT of white mineral deposits) No leaks.
I have replaced the Thermostat.
Reserve tank at max, radiator at max.

Am I supposed to see water flow easily after the thermostat opens? Cause I dont.

Any suggestions as to what else I can do to fix this? I dont think my radiator fan is running when Im driving. I cant tell because I have too much tire roar and wind noise.

I am about to clean the EGR ports and replace the coolant temp sensor.
How should I go about removing the fuel rail?

thanks

The fans dont work when the car is on, only when I turn on the AC.
It turns on after I turn off the car though. How can I get the fan working?

Since the fans work (both of them?) with the AC, the motors are OK.

The fan switch is in the thermostat housing. Unplug that & jumper the wire with a paperclip. Key on, that should make the fans run. If so, you just proved the fuses, relays, & the rest of the circuit is OK.

When you drive, there's plenty of air pushed thru the radiator. It should overheat when idling stopped in traffic; THAT's when the fan is needed. So you can test it by idling parked. The fan should come on when the temperature gauge is a little above half, but not way up towards 100%. Be prepared to jumper that wire if it gets too hot.

Incidentally, the other fan switch (in the upper radiator hose nozzle) is responsible for switching the fan after you turn off the engine.

Yes, both fans turn on with the AC on. I just short circuited the switch at the thermostat and the radiator fan turns on as soon as the car is on. Is it possible the switch is bad?

Thank you very much.

When you jumper the wire for that switch, BOTH fans are supposed to run. But even one fan should help from overheating.

I'm guessing that NO fan runs now, so replacing the switch would make one run. Should help with the overheating, cause 1 fan is better than none.

Still leaves the question of why the other fan doesn't run. There seems to be more than one problem.

MMM ... YOU did jump the switch located in the thermostat housing right ??end of the lower radiator hose ?? not the switch at the end of the top radiator hose ..frt of car ..

yes. at the thermostat housing.

Both fans are on when the ac is on.
One fan(the one closes to the intake) is on when the car is hot and is off.
One fan(the one closes to the intake) is on when I short the circuit on the plug at the thermostat housing and turn on the car.

that switch is called Thermo fan switch correct?
