Default 1995 honda accord speedometer not working

Hello I have a 1995 honda accord ex coupe 5 speed with a vtec motor in it, not a swap motor. I bought it and saw that the speedometer didn't work so I replaced the speed sensor and cleaned the connector that plugs into the speed sensor and put everything back. I started the car and saw that the needle was jumping all over the place and I was only going in reverse and drive in my driveway, the car then shut off and a wire behind the throttle body burned and the ecu fuse in the engine blew. I replaced the fuse and reconnected the burnt wire and the car started up. Now I unplugged the connector to the speed sensor because I'm scared it will happen again, does anyone know why this happened and what I could do to get the speedometer and odometer to work again. Thank you for any help.

I'd start by inspecting the wire harness to the VSS (assume that is what you replaced) and see if there are any spots where the wires are exposed and possibly grounding out.
