Default 1996 2.2 alternator problem

Hey everyone hope everyones ride is running good. The issue i have is my alternator tention bolt keeps coming loose. Soon as it comes loose.. belt squeels like crazy. It has become so bad that til i can get a moment, i wont drive it. I am going to replace the belt. If i cant keep the tensioner bolt tight, i am afraid that i will ruin a new belt. Any ideas on what i can do to keep the bolt tight. I am able to do the repairs myself so my thought was to remove the alt. And see the condition of bolt.

There is a lock nut that must be tightened to hold the tensioner bolt position. It is under the alternator and can be tricky to reach. A 1/4" ratchet w/ short extension or an offset boxed end are usual tools to reach/tighten the lock nut.

If lock nut is missing, it should be replaced.

good luck
