Default 1996 coolant code

Hello, I have a 1996 accord coupe 2.2 5 speed with 192k miles, recently I changed the thermostat and coolant and about a day after that the car seemed to hiccup when I started it and the check engine light came on. I took the car to Auto Zone to have it scanned and it came up with what looked like a code 0118," coolant recirculation to high" was what I was told. I did use an OE Honda thermostat, could it be i was given the wrong thermostat?
I tried using the search feature and got nothing.[&o]
Thank you for any help anyone can lend.

Wil.

P0118 - ECT High Input. Engine Coolant Temp sensor is supply a false high input to the ECU. This could mean the ECT sensor is failed open, disconnected, or a wiring break. When you replaced the thermostat you may have accidentally disconnected the ECT. Thermostat replacement is not likely cause of this fault, except perhaps indirectly.

good luck

also be sure all the air is out of the cooling system and the radiator cap is in good condition.

Thank you guys, I'll try bleeding the system. Sorry for this question but is the ECT sensor the one located on the thermostat housing or the sensor at the upper hose?

Thanks,
Wil.

On 1994 models the ECT sensor is under the distributor. Your's should be the same.

I would download the 94-97 Accord manual from hondahookup.com.

good luck
