Default 1996 Honda Accord turning over but not starting!

Hey guys I have a 96 accord 2.2L DX I currently have starting issues. When the car won't start I notice the fuel pump doesn't prime and the cel lamp stays lit. The frustrating thing is sometimes I can get in the car turn the key and hear the pump right away and it starts right up and sometimes I have to sit in the car with the ignition on and wait for the pump to come on...which can take secs to mins. I've replaced the igniton switch and main relay switch. I'm really leaning towards a new ecu...any suggestions???

The ECU (technically a PCM on your accord) is what grounds the main fuel relay and allows the pump to turn on. This does sound like a PCM problem.

I suggest going to car-part.com. It searches junkyards that subscribe to their service. You can sort the PCM by price or distance. You may find a cheap one in your area.

It could be a "lazy" or intermittent main fuel relay or ECM. Used ECM's dont' cost any more than MFR, so it's a tossup which to replace. ECM does seem more likely.

good luck
