Default 1997 accord abs modulator

Hello. I have a leaking abs modulator. I will remove it so i can remove & retork the plugs (per the technical spec bulletin). At the same time i would like to replace the motor 0- ring as well as the accumulator o-ring & possiblythe reservoir. My question is it possible to remove the accumulator as a unit to replace the o-ring without discharging the nitrogen (so i can re-use it) i will not touch the screw on the top of the unit (the service manual states that you should not remove the accumulator at all). Also is it necessary to use honda dot 3 brake fluid? Or will any dot 3 work. Thanks

Motor and accumulator are both accessible if you remove modulator. N2 charge is retained at top of accumulator. You must bleed all hydraulic pressure to release the accumulator.

Motor orings are special cup seals (from memory), which may be difficult to find/match. I don't think cup seals are a honda part. Cup seals are available, but it will be a challenge to match the originals.

good luck

Thanks to "Texas Honda" for the prompt reply. Just to clarify . It is my understanding that once i release all hydraulic pressure from the abs unit modulator (open the bleeder screw on the unit to release the pressure), i can safely remove the accumulator to replace the o-ring, and then re-install it (nitrogen will still be intact). I managed to source the motor & accumulator o-rings from the honda dealer.

Confirmed. You should download a shop manual from Online Manuals post in DIY forum.

good luck
