1997 Accord A/C problem
Hello all, I have a 1997 Accord LX 143,000 miles and the a/c isn't working. It has a full charge, pump is kicking in and no leaks. Vacumed it down yesterday and re-charged it but it is still just blowing air (not cold) I know there has been problems with the condensers leaking but this one isn't, everything seems to be working just no cool-cold air at all. Ideas?

RE: 1997 Accord A/C problem
Feel the lines going into and out of the evaporator at the firewall connections w/ engine running and compressor engaged.
If expansion valve is working, they should both be quite cold w/ condensation on them.
If they are warm, either your compressor is not compressing (have you checked system operating pressures?), your expansion valve is stuck wide open (no cooling), or expansion valve is fully closed (little or no cooling).
If evaporator lines are cold, then you are somehow heating your cold air due to a problem w/ the heater control valve to the heater core. It may be stuck open due to a faulty or disconnected control wire or frozen in open position. Is this a manual AC control or Auto Temp Control?
good luck
