coolant renewal
so, this is probably in the faq but i don't have too much time today to look at it. anyways, how often should your coolant be changed? according to the hood sticker when i checked it every two years? does that sound right? thoughts are highly welcomed.
thanks.

RE: coolant renewal
I like to change it every 2 years regardless of miles.
You can measure the strength of the anti-freeze properties with a hydrometer (the little float thing). But what wears out is the anti-corrosion package, andTHAT isn't easy to measure.

RE: coolant renewal
yeah, i have had to replace the radiator in my last car which was a pretty old car at the time. although, i come to the philosophy now that older is better after joining this forum a while back. it was indeed corrosion that ate up the last radiator, actually i went into the next shop (previous shop told me about the radiator, anyways when i went to do the coolant flush i said my radiator might not be up to par, luckily i did otherwise it would have been a waste to do a coolant flush). well close to 13 years for a new radiator isn't a bad life i guess for that last car.
but, honda's are awesome! this car i don't figure will have problems because i feel the like new drivability each time i drive it.
thanks for your thoughts.

RE: coolant renewal
Ph is the key reading.
Test strips are available.
Here's a link:
http://carfood.com/coolcooltess.html
Long life coolant around 8.3.
I'ts a different inhibitorthan standard coolant.
Honda only use Honda.
Otherwise I use long life and vending machine water (distilled ok too).
Vending machine uses reverse osmosis and other filters to remove undesireable characteristics of tap water.
