No No.

If the cruise is working when the speedometer is not then the circuit board on the cluster is going out.

You will need a replacement cluster.

This is a problem with the speedometer. I have read posts where people have redone the solder joints on the speedometer board. Someone was able to see some corrosion where the speedometer sits on the cluster circuit board.

If you know how to solder, you can give this a shot. You will have to remove the instrument cluster and take it apart. If you are able to fix the this, please take some pics and post them on here, because this is a common problem.

You could send your speedometer to a speedometer repair shop. I did this on my 95 accord and never had a problem when it returned.

You could also go to the junkyard and pick up a used cluster, then swap over the speedometer circuit board. Or just use the speedometer from the donor car (your mileage will be incorrect though).

See this thread for info. if you just want the swap the speedometer printed circuit board (pcb) to fix the problem.

Speedo Works randomly - Honda-Tech

For the odometer problem, try pushing your key in the the maintenance required indicator reset slot several times. On the 94-97 Accords, the odometer is mechanical, so it sometimes gets stuck.

Usually with a VSS problem, you would get a Check Engine Light and cruise control would not work. You normally would get a Check Engine Light for a VSS problem unless the bulb was burnt out. The cruise control also wouldn't work consistently with a VSS problem; however, some people's cruise control don't work due to other problems unrelated to the VSS.

I will try and locate a circuit board at the wrecking yard. My check engine light was on prior to changing out VSS and o2 sensor

Thanks for all replies

Well, to go a little further, you would determine whether the trouble code(s) associated with the Check Engine Light was for the VSS and/or O2 sensor. From the sounds of things, there may not have been a VSS problem.
