Default 1997 honda accord idle issue

hello everyone, when I am driving my vehicle my idle will rev up and down from time to time but only when I have the air conditioning on. If my ac is off it idles fine. I'm wondering if its a fuel issue but I don't think so. it is well over due for a timing replacement as well.. I have no clue what it could be. any help will be appreciated. thank you

With this topic you'll get more help in General Tech, so I'll move it.

The first thing to do is adjust your "base" idle. Honda idle-control systems don't like to be adjusted while the IACV is plugged in & working. Check this thread & go through that procedure.

If that doesn't help, then it's possible something is off with your AC causing it to have excessive drag on the engine. It sounds like there's no problem with the idle when the A/C is switched off?

Keep in mind that the 97 still used the "FIT" valve.

Pretty sure the base idle adjustment procedure is the same.

The FITV is another component that might be flaky, but that would be flaky whether the AC is turned on or off.

There is no problem with the idle when ac is off. I'm going through the procedures right now to adjust it and reset ecu
