RE: 1998 ACCORD A/C ?
Disconnect Mode Control Motor. Jumper a fused power wire to mode control motor terminal #2. Jumper a ground to mode control motor terminal #1.
Motor should cycle and stop at vent mode. Disconnect jumpers after motor has stopped, IMMEDIATELY. Reverse jumper connections, swap #1 to #2 and #2 to #1 (reverse power and ground). Motor should cycle and stop at defrost mode. Disconnect jumpers after motor has stopped, IMMEDIATELY.
If mode control motor does not run when jumping terminal #1, jump terminal #1 again after jumping all others. Mode control motor is ok if it runs after jumping terminal #1 again.
Use a multimeter to check for continuity between terminal #7 and teminals #3, 4, 5, and 6 while manually cycling motor between vent and defrost. Continuity should be indicated on each terminal momentarily while motor is cycling.
With the locking tab facing up, terminal #1 is on the far left and termainal #7 is on the far right. See colors below for orientation.
The mode control motor is completely controlled by the AC Control Head
AC Control Head 20 pin connector = Mode Control Motor 7 pin
5 = 1 BLU/BLK
6 = 2 BLU/WHT
11 = 7 YEL/GRN
17 = 3 BLU/GRN
18 = 4 LT GRN/BLK
19 = 5 GRN/YEL
20 = 6 GRN/BLK
This is for Auto AC, thought I would get ahead in case yours was auto. The mode control motor should be down on the left side of the heater box, center console, near your feet. 7 pin connector.
If this is not correct, then let me know.

RE: 1998 ACCORD A/C ?
it looks like 2point has your diagnostics covered ....... I'd never have come up with that btw. For parts pricing, the site of choice here is Majestic Honda...... you should be able to look up parts there.
