Ok thanks Everyone, I have a digital Fluke meter, so I am sure it goes to like 100 Mohms.

Well, this is beyond my capabilities now, so will be taking it to the tranny shop!
better to spend $2000 on a tranny than get a used car for the same price and never know what problems will pop up...

I've got a Fluke 179 & max is 50 M-ohms.

Still, we are talking about a switch, so if it is operating perfectly the resistance SHOULD measure open-circuit. The specification for some finite resistance is to allow a less-than-perfect switch to be acceptable.
