Hey, I just inherited a 99 Accord and I'm having a problem with the AC. The air blows, but the part of the dash where you can select AC, defrost, etc doesn't work. I have no idea what that part is called. I'd like to find out what it is and order the part repair it myself if possible. I've attached a picture to show what I'm talking about. Any help would be great, thanks.

 

It will be called the climate control panel, HVAC control panel, or maybe mode control panel.

If you plan on doing DIY work, I highly suggest buying a shop manual. I bought one for my TSX from automanualsource on ebay for $22 and downloaded it immediately. It is well worth the investment and will pay for itself if you do one DIY project using it.

I would do some electrical troubleshooting first. It is possible that the wiring or a fuse is the problem. It is also possible that the panel is working properly, but the mode control motor under the dash is bad. You will need a volt meter to do these tests.
