2000 accord alarm random activation
Hi,
My 2000 Accord V6 alarm is acting up recently. I goes off while parked in the garage, when there is no attempt at opening the door. There is no vibration near by. It is completely random and happens sometimes in the middle of the night. How can I trouble shoot it, if not, how can I inactivate the alarm and keep the remote door lock alone active. I am new and in my search, I could not find a similar posting. All help is appreciated.

Hi,
I am wondering if you ever found an answer to your problem. My wife's 2000 Honda Accord with factory alarm has just started doing what sounds like the same thing as the problem you describe. Of course it began at night and went off randomly several times irritating my neighbors (and us) until I disconnected the car battery.

1999 Accord EX Random Alarm
I have a 99 Accord EX an about a year ago my alarm started randomally going off. I got in the habit of not locking my car but due to carrying some items in my car had to start locking my doors again. For about 3 months I had no issues. Then the other day after over 8 hours of being locked and undisturbed - starts honking and lights blinking. I thought my car had fixed itself for a minute only to be reminded of my annoying issue.
I see others are experiencing the same but I have not seen any resolution.
I had someone disable the horn so I could lock my door for a few months. But I found myself needing my horn to prevent non-paying attention drivers from backing into me.
Any fix or work around would be much appreciated.

It's fixed!!!
If the alarm is randomly going off, it means one of the sensors is not functioning properly.
Our Accord was in an accident involving the front bumper. The dealer removed the bumper, which involved the hood sensor.
They told us the wire was chafed and that was the reason, but I beleive they either didn't adjust the hood sensor correctly, or disturbed the wire when they replaced the bumper.
It's difficult to track down if it is a door, hood or trunk sensor, but this is why ours was going off.
Good luck.
