Default 2000 Accord Drivers Door

I have a 2000 Accord EX, with a driver's door that doesn't want to stay open...especially on a hill. How difficult is it to replace or repair the "detent" between the door and the body? If it is doable...where to get the part.

many thanks, eric

That should be a dealer part and the ones I worked on you opened the door and unbolted it.

The 'door checker' is part #11 & 15 here. Doesn't really show too much detail about removing it. I guess you have to remove the inner door panel?

Default thanks again.

i figured the panel would have to come off...from the drawings and from inspecting the part. now i will get some info on removing the panel...and while i'm at it...i'm going to change out the factory 6" speakers. wish me luck.

They make trim tools to get the door panel clips off in one piece. Below is some Matco ones. I like a company called Old Forge. I purchased their set and noticed they looked exactly like the Matco ones but different handles. On one side of a tool it reads Old Forge and the Other Matco for half the price.

Default door minder

for anyone following this thread...the install of the door minder and some better 6 1/2 inch speakers went pretty well. the trick to the door minder install is pulling the speaker and reaching through the interior of the door to take out the old in put in the new. i did it with the widnow down...and it was difficult but doable...so i think it's best with the window up.

thanks to all for the help...now i'm going to change rear deck speakers. any suggestions about pulling off the rear deck to get to the top mounted 6x9s?

eric
